I just blogged about one of the nice things you can do with this setup -- share it to Mac's with iSCSI.

Great article Nate, glad you got it all working. Last year I encoutered the same issue with massive photos and video from my daughter and how to store it all reliably and some-how feed it to the TV in the living room for guests and family to enjoy. I went the easy way:

1) NAS: Netgear ReadyNAS Duo with 2 x 1TB SATA drives running RAID 1
2) Apple TV as the all-in-one media center slide shows of pictures and playback of HD video from the Canon 5D MKII

Not much hardware or OS tinkering for me ...

Jerome: MT is plugging along just fine. There's always something to keep me busy.

trinity: Hahaha. Yeah, that's true. I'll have to try that someday.

So what happens if you give your co-worker a great album to listen to? Could this be a great underhanded way to take some sort of revenge with out doing anything wrong?

DOH! I thought I was the only this happened to. I totally know what you mean. Although a possible upshot to your corollary would be, "a possible method to listen-in to other people's conversations is to put on some headphones and play no music at all."

So how's MT these days? The empire is definitely growing. Have a great weekend.

Great shots Nate! It helps to have a 50mm @ 1.8 you really get the nice bokeh to make the main subject just POP! The 30D is a great camera. I've been using a Canon 10D since 2003 and I recently upgraded to the coveted Canon 5D Mark II - and let me tell yah! Full frame sensor at 21.1 MP rocks! (It also helps having a few L lenses too) It even takes HD 1080i video - so I don't need to lug around a separate camcorder. It's an amazing SLR. Check out http://www.teamalona.com to see both pictures & video. I can't wait to see your future posts. By the way, we can be flickr friends also ...

I have had to say goodbye to many friends over the years so I know how hard it is to see Dave move on. I know you will see him from time to time, but it won't be the same as seeing him daily. What a blessing it is to have a friendship like that that stimulates your thinking and makes you grow as a person.

Hah, I meant "people pleaser by nature" as a "non good thing" not as an "ultimate goal".

Making people happy is not necessarily a bad thing, but when it's taken to the extreme, you can end up bending over backward to make someone happy that either will never be happy (because of something wrong with them) or will never be satisfied (because they take advantage of people).

Sometimes, you just have to let them go, understanding that they won't be happy and it's not your fault. You did all you could (or should).

I can't even imagine someone like you wanting this as the ultimate goal. Your DNA is your DNA. After all...
